Welcome to the world of Gator Dining Services, the official food service provider for the University of Florida. Studies of college students across the nation consistently show that students who eat and live on campus are more involved, have higher grade point averages and are more likely to graduate than students living at home or off campus. Dining centers are great social hubs and provide an easy way to make new friends.

We offer two types of plans: 1) Meal Plans 2) The Declining Balance Account. Both plans work off a magnetic strip on your student ID card (Gator 1 Card), so once you get your card, there’s nothing more you need to do. When you purchase your meal plan, your account will automatically be activated.

At our residential dining centers, you will find state-of-the-art dining concepts including a Mediterranean Kitchen, American Bistro, Gator Grille, World Flavors, Vegan Corner, espresso cafes, ice cream, and more. Our two residential dining centers, Fresh Food Company (located next to Broward Residence Hall on Inner Road) and Gator Corner Dining Center (located on the corner of Gale Lemerand Drive and Stadium Road), feature upscale, authentic foods from around the world, made fresh right before your eyes. But don’t worry; we also have all your favorites too, like oven roasted turkey, carved honey ham and burgers. In 2014, UF Dining Services was voted #1 in the Nation for the Most Vegan-Friendly Large American College by Peta2. The food at both these locations is “unlimited seconds,” including salads, sandwiches, entrees, vegetables, fruits, beverages and desserts. In addition to the fantastic food and selection, dining at the residential facilities is also extremely flexible. If you don’t have time to sit down and eat, you can always get your meal to go! Summer and Fall 2014 Meal Plans are now available for purchase at www.gator1.ufl.edu

Meal Plans

The Open-Access Meal Plan is recommended for all resident students and is the most economical and flexible way to eat on campus! Choose from 5-day access (Monday through Friday) or 7-day access (7 days a week) – depending on whether or not you plan to go home on weekends. No need to count how many meals you’ve used or how many you have left. No extra cost to hang with your friends over lattes! Gator Dining’s Open Access Meal Plans provide you with a VIP pass to UF’s residential dining centers- any time of day or night the facilities are open. It’s more than breakfast, lunch or dinner. You’ll make new friends over lattes or meet your study group in the evening for ice cream. Or, if you’d prefer, you can just bring your laptop and surf the net using our free wireless internet and if you don’t have time to sit down and eat, you can always get your meal to go! For added convenience, in addition to accessing unlimited meals at Fresh Food Company and Gator Corner Dining Center, you may also use your Meal Plan during Summer B for lunch at Pollo Tropical, Papa John’s, Croutons, and the Camellia Court Cafe plus Subway (after 4PM) for dinner. In Fall 2014, you may use your meal plan for lunch at Pollo Tropical, Papa John’s, Croutons, Chomp It, the Camellia Court Cafe plus Moe’s Southwest Grill or Subway – (after 4pm) for dinner.

For those students who do not need Open-Access and prefer to purchase a set number of meals per week, we offer a meal plan that provides 14 meals per week.

Commuter Meal Plans

There are two options for off campus students – the 65 or 25 Block Commuter Meal Plan. These small, convenient meal plans allow off campus students to enjoy on campus dining at a discounted price. Each block of meals rolls over on a weekly basis, concluding at the end of the semester. In Fall 2014, the meals can be redeemed at the Fresh Food Company at Broward Dining, Gator Corner Dining Center, Croutons, Papa John’s and Pollo Tropical in the Reitz Union plus the Camellia Court Café in the Harn Museum of Art, Chomp It at the Racquet Club Dining Center as well as Moe’s Southwest Grill and Subway (after 4pm). In addition, the 65 and 25 Block Meal Plans include Flex Bucks so you can eat all over campus at places such as Starbucks, Chick-fil-A, convenience stores, and more! These plans are available exclusively to students living off campus.

Flexibility to Dine at Other Locations!

One of the great things about the Meal Plans is its flexibility. Along with the meals at Gator Corner Dining Center, the Fresh Food Company, Moe’s Southwest Grill, Subway, Pollo Tropical, Papa John’s, Camellia Court Cafe, Croutons, and Chomp It your plan includes a special declining balance supplement called Flex Bucks. Depending on the option you choose, you’ll get between $200 – $450 per semester to use at any of the other dining locations on campus including Einstein Bros Bagels, Starbucks, Chick-fil-A, Panda Express, convenience stores and more.

Flex Bucks Reload Program

As a Meal Plan member you can sign up for the Flex Bucks Reload Program. When your balance drops to $50.00 you can recharge your account for a predetermined value. Call Gator Dining’s business office at 352-392-2491 for more details. Your account will be recharged with a predetermined value.

Meet, Greet, & Eat!

It’s often difficult being away from home for the first time and making new friends. As the residential dining centers are conveniently located close to many of the residence halls on campus, they are a natural gathering spot for students to meet, greet, and eat. Join your neighbors for coffee, a meal, or a late evening snack. What better way to get acquainted?

Choosing the Right Option For You

With the 7 Day Open-Access Plan, the average price for unlimited meals and snacks per access is only $3.50! With the 5 Day Open-Access Plan, the average price for unlimited meals and snacks per access is $4.46!

For those students who do not need Open Access and prefer to purchase a set number of meals per week, we offer the 14 meals per week option, which averages about $6.37 per meal.

Not sure that the Meal Plans will fit your new campus life-style? Don’t worry – there is a grace period at the beginning of the spring semester during which time you may convert the prorated value of your meal plan to a Declining Balance Account. All you have to do is come into the Gator Dining office and fill out the conversion form. So, you have nothing to lose by trying out one of these plans!

In addition, those students who join a fraternity or sorority that has its own mandatory meal plan component may apply for a prorated refund of their Residential Meal Plan at any time during the semester. You may also apply for a prorated refund if you withdraw from school. Note: refunds are prorated to the date we receive all required paperwork. Please call our business office for additional details. View the Fraternity and Sorority Refund Policy for more information.

Receiving Student Financial Aid Awards?

If so, you may be able to eat now and pay later. You may qualify to defer payment of your meal plan if the expected amount of your financial aid award is large enough to cover your meal plan plus the amount of your tuition, campus housing expenses and any bookstore deferment you may have chosen. Please call Gator Dining Services for additional details (352-392-2491).
